The 17th party congress of All India Forward Bloc will be held in Chennai from September 22 to 26, party's general secretary G Devarajan said today.
The meet would mainly discuss the ways of strengthening the unity of the Left and secular-democratic forces across the country as a credible alternative to the Congress and BJP, Devarajan told a press meet here today.
"A strong combination of the Left and secular-democratic forces alone could save the country from the serious problems it faced," he said.
The Forward Bloc wanted CPI(M) and CPI, as two major Left parties, to take the initiative to bring together all like-minded parties to oppose the Congress and BJP before the next Lok Sabha polls.
