Four persons were today arrested here for allegedly possessing a sand boa and attempting to sell it in violation of Wildlife Protection Act.
Police seized the 124 cm long snake and Rs five lakh cash from them at a hotel here, police and forest officials said.
The four were quarrelling over sharing Rs five lakh they received from a buyer from Kerala, prompting the hotel staff to tip-off police, Conservator of Forests V Ganesan and District Forest Officer Jayabalan said.

During questioning, the four told the officials that they had bought the sand boa from a person from Tiruchirappalli for being sold to the man from Kerala, who wanted it for medicinal use.
They were arrested under relevant sections of Wild Life Protection Act, they said.
