Four ECoR personnel felicitated for averting train mishap

The East Coast Railways(ECoR) today felicitated four of its alert personnel who averted a major train mishap near Muniguda station in Odisha's Rayagada district on Tuesday.

Loco pilot J V Ramana, assistant loco pilot M K Singh, gurad D D Nath, and track maintainer K Srinivas had detected welding failure between Bissam Cuttack-Muniguda station and averted any mishap, an official release said.

It was their presence of mind that saved hundreds of passengers travelling in the Visakhapatnam-Korba Express, it said.

The train was scheduled to pass through Muniguda station and the train was stopped after detection of cracks in the railway line.
 

In recognition their contribution, Sambalpur divisional railway manager Jaideep Gupta awarded a certificate of merit and cash prize to them, the release said.
