Four elephants fell into dug well, rescued

Forest officials today rescued four elephants from a 10-feet deep dry dug well in Baripada forest division of Mayurbhanj district.

A female elephant and three calves from Similipal forest entered a paddy field near Sanasala village last night and fell into the dry dug well used by villagers for sabai grass cultivation, said Sanjay Swain, Divisional Forest Officer, Baripada.

Forest department officials rescued the four today and the animals went back to the Similipal forest.
