Four brothers were arrested in connection with cheating 86 persons to the tune of Rs 250 million over a period of time, police said today.
Following complaints from the victims, Sharaffudeen was arrested on his way home from the Kozhikode Airport and on interrogation, his brothers Abdul Salam, Sharaffudeen and Abdul Samad were also arrested, police said, adding, four more brothers of Asharaff were to be nabbed in this regard.
Their modus of operandi was to offer gainful employment in their soap powder manufacturing unit at Kodungalloor and its branches in the Arabian Gulf countries with a remunaration of Rs 5,000 if they invest Rs one lakh in their firm.
If they invest more, the remunaration will be more, they were told.
However, after obtaining money, jobs would not be provided, police said.
Some of the victims who lost their money had even attempted to commit suicide in front their firm, police said.
