Four held for possession of weapons, drugs

Four persons have been arrested for possession of weapons and contraband in Varanasi, state home department said here today.

The accused riding a luxury vehicle were held at the DRM office gate in Sigra police station area yesterday. Four 32-bore pistols, two 38-bore revolvers, one 9 mm pistol, five country-made revolvers, a large number of cartridges and 3 kgs of drugs were recovered from them, a spokesman of the department said.

Those arrested are all history-sheeters and told police that they used to bring weapons and contraband from Munger district of Bihar for supplying in Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra and Jaunpur, the spokesman said.
 

A case has been registered and further investigations are on, he added.
