Four held with carcass of spotted deer

Four persons, including an advocate, were arrested by a forest department patrol team at Ooilampalayam area today for killing a spotted deer, an endangered species, officials said.

A forest patrol team spotted the four sitting in a car in the area near Vilamundy forests. The carcass of the 70 kg deer was recovered during checking of their vehicle, they said.

The four accused reportedly told officials during questioning that they had killed the deer, following which they were arrested and their car was seized.

All the four belong to Perundurai in Erode district.
