: Four persons were killed on the spot when the driver of the sports utility vehicle lost control and collided with an oncoming lorry, the police said today.
Babu the driver of the tourist vehicle picked up Natesh Kumar, Senthil Kumar and Siva from the Chennai Airport and were on their way to Cuddalore when the fatal accident occurred last night near Achirupakkam, about 90 kms from here, Achirupakkam Police official said.
"The vehicle was proceeding towards Cuddalore on the Chennai-Tiruchirapalli Grand Southern Trunk Road near Achirupakkam and the driver of the vehicle lost control ramming against an oncoming lorry", an official told PTI.
"All the four were killed on the spot", they said, adding traffic came to a standstill as it was a major junction, they said.
The completely damaged SUV was removed from the spot using a crane.
