Four killed as bus hits motorbikes

Four youths, including two brothers, were killed when a passenger bus collided with their motor-cycles at at Pallimala in Ganjam district, the police said today.

The youths were travelling in two motorcycles when the Bolangir-bound bus hit them last night, Aska police station inspector-in-charge Baleswara Gidhi said.

The driver of the bus fled after the accident.

While one deceased was yet to be identified, the other three were identified as Digambara Pradhan (25), his brother Dillip (20) of Dasamunduli village and Maheswara Rout (25) of Bada Pankalabai village, Gidhi said.

Angry family members of the deceased staged a dharna at Aska today demanding compensation and arrest of the driver of the killer bus immediately.
 

The dharna was withdrawn after the police intervened and district administration provided Rs 10,000 for the next of kin of each deceased persons.
