In a joint combing operation, Bihar police and CRPF have arrested four Maoists from Rohtas district and recovered a huge cache of arms, the police said.

The security forces recovered two .315 rifles, 13 single barrel guns, a pistol, 78 bullets, two sacks of gunpowder, 55 batteries used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), 21 splitters used in bombs and several kilogrammes of explosive ammonium nitrate on the basis of interrogation of the arrested persons.

Briefing the reporters today, Rohtas Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Kushwaha said the arrests were made last night after a two-day-long combing operation in the hilly and forest tracts of the district.

"We came under fire during the combing operation near Banda Hill area in the district. We returned the fire, surrounded the naxals and arrested them. The arms and ammunition were recovered following their interrogation," Kushwaha said.

"The arrested persons are identified as Jokham Singh, Singhasas Yadav, Mohammad Amaluddin and Salya. They are part of the troupe of Ajay Rajbhar, who works for Tritiya Prastuti Committee, a naxal outfit active in south Bihar and Jharkhand," the SP added.

Interrogation of the arrested persons is still going on and police officials said they expect further arrests and recovery of more weapons.
