Four persons were today killed and five others got seriously injured when their van collided head-on with a truck on Ram Ganga bridge, police said.
Nine residents of Pohrara Village in Amroha district were going to participate in a rally orgainsed by Samajwadi Party in Bareilly this morning when their van collided head-on with the truck, Sudhir Kumar Tomar, Police Inspector, Katghar police station said.
The four deceased were identified as Sonu (30), Islam (30), Shabir(40) and Zakir (40), police said.
All bodies were sent for post mortem, while the five injured were rushed to government hospital where their condition was stated out of danger, said police.
The truck driver absconded from the spot and police is trying to nab him, they said.
