Four posing as cops decamp with 8 kg gold ornaments

Four men posing as police officials threatened two employees of a Mumbai-based jewellery shop and allegedly decamped with 8 kg gold ornaments at Lakadi-ka-pul area here, police said today.

The incident occurred last night, when Jiten Prasad and Devendra were about to board a bus to Bangalore from here, they said.

"The four accused told the employees that they were officials of Crime Branch and threatened them to part with the bag containing the gold ornaments. When they refused, the four snatched the bag and fled," Saifabad Police Station Inspector P Ashok told PTI.

The duo informed the matter to the jewellery shop owner, who today lodged a complaint after which Saifabad Police today booked a case under IPC Sections 420 (Cheating) and 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft), the police officer said.
 

Investigation into the case was on.
