Four women injured in acid attack in Pakistan

Four women were seriously injured today when two unidentified motorcycle-borne men threw acid on them in a first of its kind incident in Pakistan's troubled Balochistan province.
The women were rushed to hospital with burns on their faces in critical condition soon after the attack.
"The incident took place this afternoon in the Killi Kamalo market area. No one has come forward to claim responsibility for this attack," senior police official, Imran Qureshi told PTI.

Qureshi said the incident could be the result of some enmity or the work of militant elements.
In the past, separatist elements in the province have targeted security forces and government officials and government installations but not women.
The women were out shopping for Eid when two men on motorcycles came and threw the acid on their faces and sped away.
According to a doctor at the Bolan medical complex where the women were taken said that they were targeted on their faces.
A huge contingent of police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel reached the site of incident.
Religious extremists in Pakistan have in the past targeted women with acid attacks and gunfire for stepping out of their houses and not covering their faces.
