Freight rates decline on excess availability of trucks

Freight rates for the nine-tonne payload section for select destinations declined by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital today on restricted movements of cargo amid excess position of trucks.
Transporters said easy availability of trucks against restricted cargo movements, led to a fall in freight rates for select centres.
Delhi to Chandigarh, Kanpur, Indore and Ahmedabad freight rates moved down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 19,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 21,000 and Rs 22,000, respectively.
Rates to Baroda, Patna, Mumbai and Kolkata also went down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 23,000, Rs 24,000, Rs 28,000 and Rs 31,000, respectively.
