A French mountaineer plunged to his death while descending a Himalayan peak in the Nepal's North-East part of the Everest region.
30-year-old mountaineer, Mike, along with another climber was returning from an unsuccessful attempt to scale 6,476-metre Mera Peak on Friday when he lost his balance and fell about 50 metres, a police officer said.
The French climber died on the spot.

His body has been brought to Lukla, the nearest airport in the Everest region in eastern Nepal, and it will be airlifted to the capital for the postmortem, he said.
The region was hit by tragedy this year, with more than 40 hikers killed in a massive snowstorm in the popular Annapurna circuit in October.
