A replica of a nine-foot tall elephant and six-foot tall calf, made of around one tonne of grapes, was the cynosure of all eyes at the two-day fruit show which began today in neighbouring Nilgiris district.
The horticulture department organises the annual summer festival in Coonoor, which comprises a spice show, a vegetable show, a rose show and a flower show.
The 60th edition of the fruit show marks the conclusion of the festival. This year, the department created replica of animals, birds and a big arch made of different fruits.
Another attraction was the rangoli made of 500 kgs of different fruits, including peach which are grown in the district.
Apart from Nilgiris, 11 other districts of the state and a few private organisations participated in the fruit show.
