Fugitive held in Lakhimpur

A rape and murder accused, who had escaped from the district jail last year, was nabbed near Bhansaria Railway crossing here.

SP Kheri, Dr S Channappa said a joint team of city kotwali police and crime branch nabbed Mohan Kashyap while acting on a tip-off yesterday.

A country-made pistol and cartridges were recovered from Mohan, who carried a cash reward of Rs. 12,000 over his head.

The SP also announced a cash reward for the police team which made the arrests.

Kashyap, who was arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a 10 year-old girl and lodged in the district jail, had escaped on October 31, 2016.
