Gangotri, Yamunotri to be reopened in May

The sacred portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in Garhwal Himalayas will be reopened on May 9.

Doors of the high altitude shrines, closed annually during winter due to snowbound conditions, will be reopened for devotees on May 9 on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, said Gangotri Mandir Samiti Chairman Mukesh Semwal.

However, the auspicious hour for the reopening is yet to be fixed by the priests, he said.
