Ganja valued at Rs 6.15 lakh was seized and two persons were arrested in Malkangiri district for transporting the contraband in a "camouflaged ambulance", police said today.
A police team intercepted the vehicle at Govindapalli Chhack under the jurisdiction of Mathili police station yesterday afternoon and seized the ganja, Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena said.
The contraband, weighing 1.23 quintal, was packed in five polythene bags, he said.
The driver of the vehicle and another person accompanying him were arrested, the SP said.
Both of them belonged to Madhya Pradesh.
Preliminary investigation said that the ganja was being transported from Chitrakonda area of Malkangiri district to Madhya Pradesh, he said.
Investigation is in progress as per provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said.
