Georgia ex-leader Saakashvili in Poland after Ukraine

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who fell out with Ukraine's leader Petro Poroshenko, landed in Poland today after being deported from Ukraine, the Polish border guard service said.

"Mikheil Saakashvili was admitted onto Polish territory," the service's spokeswoman Agnieszka Golias told AFP.

Ukraine's border guard service had earlier said the 50- year-old had resided in Ukraine "illegally" and had therefore been sent back to the country where he initially came from. After falling out with Poroshenko, Saakashvili, who had been stripped of his passport, broke through the Ukrainian-Polish border with the help of his supporters last September.
