Girl axed to death by aunt

An eight-year-old girl was

brutally axed to death by her maternal aunt today morning while she was asleep in Durgapura village here, police said.

The accused identified as Vimlabai (40), who is reported to be mentally disturbed, attacked the girl with an axe killing her on the spot, SHO Rohit said.

The body was handed over to the family after conducting post mortem and the accused has been arrested, he said adding, further investigations are on to ascertain the reason why she committed the crime.
