A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide at her home in Baramulla district of north Kashmir today, police said.
The girl, hailing from Seran village, consumed some poisonous substance at her home and was rushed to Soura Medical institute here after initial treatment at sub-district hospital Baramulla, a police spokesman said.
The girl breathed her last at the hospital and her body was handed over to the family after completion of all legal formalities, the spokesman said.
The motive behind her taking the extreme step was not known immediately, the spokesman said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations are on.
