A prominent glass trader was today abducted by unknown criminals in broad daylight here but was rescued hours later, a senior police official said.
Senior SP Ajay Kumar Pandey said the incident occurred when this morning when 42-year-old Sanjay Mittal was going to his factory in his car.
Some persons on a motorcycle surrounded his car at the Naglabhau crossing and abducted him at gun point, and then drove away in his vehicle, he said.
"Police later freed the trader, and arrested one of the abductors from the spot (where the trader was held)," Pandey said, probe is going on, the SSP added..
The incident comes just days after two jewellers were killed during a robbery in Mathura, triggering wide-spread protest by the business community.
More than 7,000 jewellery shops downed shutters today following the Mathura incident in which four police officials were suspended.
