Global Impact Challenge kicks off

Around 25 startups from different states are participating in the Global Impact Challenge (GIC) that began at Technopark here today.

The event, jointly organised by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and US-based Singularity University (SU), would be a platform for young innovators to pitch their ideas which can be turned into path-breaking technologies positively impacting the society, an official release said.

Inaugurating the event, Kerala IT Secretary M Sivasankar said the level of confidence of startups and student entrepreneurs has gone up in recent times.

Startups today have become more proactive and have started to come up with quickly implementable solutions,he said.

Citing the case of a startup that offered a timely solution for staving off fake information regarding Nipah virus on social media, he said initiatives which help society deal with such situations are appreciated and will have the support of the state government.

 

Startups from Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Telengana are taking part in the Challenge.

Genrobotics, Valley Labs, Inforich Technology Solutions, and Navalt Solar and Electric Boats are some of the participants from Kerala, the release said.

The boot camp was launched today and the finale will be held on July 7.
