'Goa for Beef-Beef for Goa', (GFBBFG), a newly-formed group in the coastal state, today criticised the Centre for ban on sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets.
"It is alarming that beef, which is a source of protein for many people in Goa, will soon be off the plate, rendering an important source of nutrition inaccessible," said GFBBFG in a release here.
Father Savio Fernandes and social worker Abdul Matin are conveners of the group.

GFBBFG demanded immediate revocation of new rules which ban sale of animals for slaughter at animal markets.
It will affect the livelihood of thousands of people in Goa and "imping on the food habits of a significant population", it said.
Members of the group have sought a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on the issue, it said.
GFBBFG will also move the court over the issue, it added.
