Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today expressed grief over the death of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
"In his death, the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire nation has lost a great statesman, towering personality and above all a vibrant humanist," Gogoi said in a statement here.
Mufti's chequered public life spanning several decades would be remembered by posterity, he added.
The Chief Minister also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Sayeed, 79, breathed his last at AIIMS in the national capital yesterday after remaining on ventilator for the past few days.
