Gold ingots worth Rs.20 lakh seized

Gold ingots worth Rs.20 lakh were seized from a passenger who arrived here by a Singapore Airlines flight, police said today.

As the passenger, Zakeer Hussain of Tirupur, was found moving in a suspicious manner, after alighting from the plane late last night, customs officials took him for questioning, police said.

Officials, who frisked him and searched his baggage, found 10 ingots of gold hidden in the shoes, value of which was estimated at Rs.20 lakh, they said.

He was working in Singapore for the last few years and returning to his home town of Tirupur, they said.
