Gold worth Rs 1.25 crore seized from passengers

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials today seized over three kg of gold worth Rs 1.25 crore from seven passengers, including two women, here.
Acting on a tip off, officials intercepted the passengers and recovered 3.186 kg of gold worth Rs 1.25 crore from their possession, an official release said.
Investigations revealed that some other passengers abandoned 800 grams of gold in the aircraft itself after coming to know about the DRI operation at the airport, it said.

In another incident, DRI officials seized foreign currencies worth Rs 16.28 lakh from two passengers who were bound for Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, respectively.
The duo were detained and further investigation were on, it said.
