: Gold worth Rs 37 lakh was seized from a man and a woman at the airport here Friday on their arrival from Colomnbo, the Customs department said.
The officials, acting on a tip off that they were carrying gold, intercepted them on their arrival here by two different flights, a press release said.
A search revealed that the man had concealed 525 grams of gold worth Rs 19.5 lakh, encased in rubber in his rectum, which was retrieved.
The woman, who had concealed the gold in a similar manner, was found to be carrying 448 grams of the yellow metal valued at Rs 17.3 lakh.
Further investigation was on, the release said.
