Gold worth Rs 48 lakh seized from passenger at airport

Air Customs Intelligence seized 1.580 kg of gold valued at Rs 48 lakh from a passenger at the nearby Karippur International airport today.

The passenger Suhail, who arrived by a Dubai-Calicut flight, has been taken into custody for questioning, Customs sources said.

The gold was hidden in a computer UPS, they said.

Customs officials had yesterday seized about 3.75 gold from two passengers who arrived in a Sharjah-Calicut flight and Saudi Airlines flight.
