Gold worth Rs 7.38 lakh seized from passenger at int's airport

Customs Officers today foiled a flyer's bid to smuggle 250 gram gold out of the international airport here after he landed by a Gulf Airlines flight.
Based on a specific intelligence, the Customs Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit seized 250 gram gold of foreign origin, valued at Rs 7.38 lakh, from the passenger who arrived from Jeddah via Baharain, a senior Customs officer said.
The passenger had concealed the gold in a special pocket made in a knee band he was wearing under his trouser.
Further investigations are underway.
