Gold worth Rs 90 lakh seized from passenger

Gold biscuits, weighing 3.26 kg and valued at Rs 90 lakh, were today seized from a passenger from Dubai at nearby Karipur International airport, officials said.
As many as 28 gold biscuits were concealed inside the battery compartments of two emergency lamps in the baggage of Mohammed Shakir who arrived here by a Dubai-Doha Qatar Airways flight at 8.20 am, Air Customs Intelligence Assistant Commissioner, Abdul Rasheed, said.
The 39-year-old man, a native of Kathirur near Thalassery in Kannur district, has been taken into custody, he said.
