Goonda act invoked against two

The city police has invoked the goonda Act against two alleged notorious criminals, Rohidas alias Sharan (32) and Raheem (37) on charge of involvement in several criminal cases.

City Police Commissioner M Chandra Shekhar told reporters that Sharan was an aide of underworld element Vicky Shetty, since he was carrying out criminal activities despite having a total of 17 grave charges including four murder, a murder attempt, a rape case and robbery attempt cases which were in various stages of hearing in the court.

He was arrested yesterday and lodged in the District Prison at Vijayapura.

He was earlier once booked under the goonda Act.
 

Raheem was a drug peddler who targeted students and was facing eight cases and was acquitted in two of them.

He was continuing with illegal activities despite several cases against him.

He had also been arrested yesterday and lodged in Shivamogga District Prison, he said.

The Commissioner said that in 2017, five drug peddlers and 15 drug addicts have been booked in 20 cases so far.
