An anti-graft body today filed a charge sheet against a government official who was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 here over three years ago.

The charge sheet was filed before the special court of anti-corruption against former booking manager in the office of transport commissioner, Jammu, Deepak Sharma, a spokesman of the Vigilance Organisation Jammu said.

He said Sharma, a junior clerk, was caught by the sleuths on April 3, 2014 following a written complaint lodged by a transporter Pankaj Vaid, alleging that the official was demanding bribe from him for transferring route permit from an old vehicle to new one.

"The accused was caught red handed by a trap team while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant for transfer of route permit from old vehicle to new vehicle in presence of independent witnesses at Transport Commissioners Office, Jammu," the spokesman said.
