A superintending engineer of the Thane Zilla Parishad was today arrested for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 3,500, Anti-Corruption Bureau official said.
The accused Sanjay Baviskar, attached with rural water supply scheme and junior engineer P S Bhoir demanded the bribe amount from the complainant for according technical sanction of seven schemes under a programme, Thane ACB DySP Sanjay Mohite was quoted as saying in a release.
Following a complaint, a trap was laid this afternoon and Baviskar was caught while accepting the bribe inside the collectorate, he added.
A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered in this connection, the official added.
