Government wins landslide in Venezuela state elections

The socialist government of President Nicolas Maduro won a landslide 17 out of 23 states in Venezuela's regional elections, according to official results announced by the National Elections Council.

The opposition Democratic Union Roundtable (MUD) coalition, which earlier said the upcoming results were "suspicious", took only five of the states, according to the results.
