Deputy Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council, Vasant Davkhare, today asked the state government to direct the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to issue occupation certificate to the Mumbai Cricket Association's sports club in suburban Kandivali here.

The inauguration of the newly-built facility was cancelled recently as it has not got OC yet.

Shiv Sena legislator Ramdas Kadam, in a calling attention motion, questioned how the MCA carried out construction on 23 per cent of the land when only 15 percent was envisaged. "The construction in the cricket academy is carried out by violating norms," he said.

"The club is also used for consuming alcohol. Cards are also played there," he said.

However, Minister of State for Urban Development Uday Samant said the construction did not violate any of the Development Control Rules.
