The Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Tribunal today seized and attached a government bus after the authorities failed to pay compensation of Rs 15.90 lakh to the family of a person who died some nine months ago in a mishap.
Venkatprasad, who was knocked down by a government bus at Maruthamalai on the city outskirts, died on the spot on March 31.
Venkatprasad's wife had filed a petition before the Tribunal seeking adequate compensation from the State Transport Corporation and the Tribunal had ordered it to pay a compensation of Rs 15.90 lakh as compensation a few months ago.
Since the Corporation management failed to pay the amount, the Tribunal ordered seizure of the bus following which court officials seized and attached the vehicle.
