Govt offices in North, South blocks to close early on Monday

Government offices located in North Block, South Block and nearby areas will be closed early on Monday to ensure smooth security arrangements for swearing- in ceremony of newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"In connection with arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014, it has been decided that the government offices located in the North Block, South Block and Hutments would be closed early at 13:00 hrs," the Ministry of Personnel said in an order issued today.

North Block houses Home Affairs, Finance and Personnel ministries whereas South Block has Prime Minister's Office and Defence Ministry among others.
 

Modi would be sworn-in at a ceremony scheduled to be held on Monday evening in Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
