Puducherry Welfare Minister P Rajavelu today handed Rs 3.56 crores as grants to functionaries of voluntary organisations taking care of orphaned and street children and abandoned kids.
Functionaries of around 30 NGOs covered under the Integrated Child's Development Scheme were handed the grant for the fiscal 2014-2015 and this assistance would be of help to take care of 1300 children attached to the homes across the Union Territory, a press release said.
