Groundnut oil firms up sustained demand

Groundnut oil prices firmed up further at the oils and oilseeds market here today on consistent demand from stockist and retailers on the backdrop of approaching festivities.

Meanwhile, refined palmolein declined further owing to lack of retail buying support amidst lower Malaysian cues.

In the non-edible segment, castorseeds bold and castor oil commercial ruled stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Linseed oil recovered following renewed demand from paint and allied industries.

In futures market, castorseeds December contract eased further on subdued export enquiries.

In the edible segment, groundnutoil strengthened by Rs 10 per 10kg to Rs 880 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 870. However, refined palmolein moved down by Rs 3 per 10kg to Rs 562 as against Rs 565 yesterday.
 

Moving to non-edible section, castorseeds bold and castoroil commercial closed unchanged at Rs 3,500 per 100kg and Rs 730 per 10kg respectively.

Linseed oil climbed by Rs 5 per 10kg to Rs 745 as against Rs 740 previously.

Turning to futures, castorseeds December contract opened slightly lower at Rs 3,700 and drifted further to Rs 3,660 before ending at Rs 3,697 from Rs 3,706 previously, showing a modest loss of Rs 9 per tonne.
