Guar seed prices gained 1.22 per cent to Rs 4,456.50 per quintal in futures trade today as traders raise bets on strong demand in spot markets.
Marketmen said halt in arrivals from growing regions, powered by heavy offtake by guar gum makers in the spot market boosted futures prices of guar seed.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guar seed delivery for February contracts rose by Rs 53.50, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 4,456.50 per quintal with an open interest of 16,670 lots.
The delivery for March contracts too rose by Rs 48.50, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 4,405 per quintal with an open interest stood at 1,63,280 lots.
