The Gujarat Government today gave approval for five new units of agro-food processing sector in five different districts with a cumulative investment of Rs 144 crore under the new Industrial Policy-2015.

These units will get various benefits under the Industrial Policy, as they fall in to the category of 'labour intensive' industry, an official release said.

The decision to approve the registration of these units has been taken in the state empowered committee headed by the Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.

These new units will be set up in rural areas of Sabarkantha, Kheda, Rajkot, Kutch and Vadodara district at an investment of Rs 144 crore and will provide employment opportunity to over 670 youths, it added.

Under the new Industrial Policy announced a few months back, the state government has announced various rebates and assistance to units which are labour intensive and agrees to set up their plants in rural parts of state.

These benefits include 80 per cent reimbursement on net Value Added Tax (VAT) paid annually.

In addition, these units are entitled to get 7 per cent financial assistance on the interest paid on their term loans for five years, the release said.
