Press Trust of India New Delhi
Police today claimed to have busted a notorious 'gulel gang' with the arrest of two of its members who were allegedly involved in nearly hundred theft cases in which catapults were used to break car windows.

A Maruti Swift car, seven laptops, twelve laptop bags, ten handbags and luggage bags, cheque books, stamps of different companies, six expensive wrist watches and one catapult and 160 iron balls were recovered from them.

Michel aka Sanjay of East Uttam Nagar and Vikram of Ambedkar Nagar, were arrested by the cops from KM Chowk in Sector 11-12 of Dwarka, South-West DCP RA Sanjeev said.

"Incidents of theft from cars by breaking window glasses have increased in last six months. The accused used to break the glasses of cars by using 'gulel' (slingshot) and take away valuables like cell phones and laptops," the officer said.

Sanjay, who led the gang, is said to be an archer and was helped by his brother-in-law Vikram in the thefts, he said.

Police is looking for arrest of two other gang members -- Rahul and Rajiv, who are still absconding, the DCP added.
