Gur declines on fresh arrivals

Gur prices drifted upto Rs 200 per quintal in the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market at national capital today following fresh arrivals from manufacturing regions.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also ended lower.

Marketmen said increased production due to favourable weather conditions against subdued buying by stockists and retailers, mainly pulled down gur prices.

In Delhi, the prominent losser was Shakkar prices by Rs 200 at 3,200-3,300 per quintal.

Gur Pedi lost Rs 150 to settle at Rs 2,850-2,950, while Dhayya by Rs 100 at Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.

At Muradnagar, gur Dhayya lost the most by Rs 200 at Rs 2,600-2,650, moreover Pedi slipped by Rs 150 at Rs 2,550-2,600 per quintal.
 

Coming to Muradnagar market prices of Chkku dropped by Rs 150 at Rs 2,350-2,600, while Khurpa fell by Rs 100 at Rs 2,300-2,400 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,600-2,700, pedi Rs 2,850-2,950, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,200-3,300.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,200-2,250, chakku Rs 2,350-2,600, khurpa Rs 2,300-2,400 and Ladoo Rs 2,500-2,700.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,500-2,600 and dhayya Rs 2,600-2,650.
