Firm conditions prevailed at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today as most of gur varieties spurted on pick up in demand from local parties and stockists.
Traders said pick up in demand from local parties and stockists against restricted supplies from producing regions led to upsurge in gur prices.
They said a firm trend in sugar, also supported the up side in gur prices.

At Delhi, gur pedi, dhayya and shakkar rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,900-3,000, Rs 3,000-3,100 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal respectively.
In Muzzafarnagar, chakku, khurpa and laddo also moved up to Rs 2,500-2,750, Rs 2,400-2,450 and Rs 2,550-2,700 from previous levels of Rs 2,425-2,750, Rs 2,350-2,400 and Rs 2,400-2,550 per quintal respectively.
In line with overall trend, gur pedi and dhayya prices in Muradngar, too ended higher at Rs 2,600-2,650 each as compared to previous levels of Rs 2,450-2,500 and Rs 2,500-2,550 per quintal respectively.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,900-3,000, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,350-2,400, chakku Rs 2,500-2,750, khurpa Rs 2,400-2,450 and Ladoo Rs 2,550-2,700.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,600-2,650 and dhayya Rs 2,600-2,650.
