Gur prices rise on tight supply, pick-up in demand

Gur prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following restricted supplies from manufacturing areas amid pick-up in demand.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also remained in keen demand and gained Rs 50 per quintal on fresh buying support.

Marketmen said besides fresh buying support from stockists and retailers, restricted arrivals from manufacturing belts led to the rise in gur prices.

In Delhi, gur Pedi and Shakkar prices shot up by Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal.

At Muzaffarnagar, prices of gur khurpa and Laddoo asked higher by Rs 50 each to end at Rs 2,350-2,400 and Rs 2,500-2,650 per quintal.
 

Coming to Muradnagar, there also gur pedi and dhayya settled higher by Rs 50 each at Rs 2,450-2,500 and Rs 2,500-2,550 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,600-2,700, pedi Rs 2,800-2,900, dhayya Rs 2,900-3,000 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,300-2,350, chakku Rs 2,300-2,600, khurpa Rs 2,350-2,400 and Ladoo Rs 2,500-2,650.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,450-2,500 and dhayya Rs 2,500-2,550.
