Steady conditions persisted at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today as prices continued to move in a narrow range in limited deals and settled around previous levels.

On the other hand, gur prices in Muzzafarnagar and Muradnagar markets ended lower on sluggish demand.

Traders said besides subdued demand from stockists, adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing areas mainly led to decline in gur prices at Muzzafarnagar and Muradnagar gur mandies.

At Muzzafarnagar, gur chakku eased to Rs 2,450-2,550 against last close of Rs 2,450-2,600 per quintal.

In Muradngar, gur pedi and dhayya quoted lower at Rs 2,500-2,550 and Rs 2,550-2,600 instead of Rs 2,550-2,650 and Rs 2,650-2,700 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,750-2,850, pedi Rs 2,900-3,000, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,000-3,100.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,450, chakku Rs 2,450-2,550, khurpa Rs 2,350-2,400 and Ladoo Rs 2,500-2,550.
