Gur pedi and shakkar prices shot up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in national capital today on speculative buying by stockists and retailers amid tight stocks following thin supplies.

However, Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets ended steady in the absence of worthwhile activity.

Marketmen said speculative buying by traders following tight stocks due to restricted arrivals from manufacturing areas in Uttar Pradesh in view of ongoing "Kaanwar Yatra", mainly pushed up gur prices in Delhi.

In Delhi, gur pedi prices climbed up by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 3,500-3,600 per quintal.

Similarly, prices of shakkar hardened by Rs 100 to yield at Rs 3,700-3,800 per quintal.

Following are today's rates per quintal:

Gur chakku 3,400-3,500, pedi 3,500-3,600, dhayya N.A. And shakkar 3,700-3,800.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket 2,975-3,000, chakku 2,950-3,200, khurpa N.A. And Ladoo N.A.
