Gutka, pan masala worth lakhs seized

As many as 280 cartoons of gutka and pan masala worth Rs 35 lakh was seized and two persons arrested in Harbans Mohal area here, police said today.

Gutka and pan masala worth Rs 35 lakh was seized in a raid last night on two godowns in Harbans Mohal area and two persons were arrested, SSP Yashasvi Yadav said.

The stock was meant to be sent to Allahabad and Lucknow, the SSP said.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rajendra Gupta, a gutka trader and his employee Rinku Chaurasia, Yadav said.

They have been booked under various sections of the IPC, including charges of food adulteration, Yadav added.
